Read the corrected notes
  • Living organisms consist of one or more cells.
  • The cell is the basic unit of life; new cells arise from existing cells.
  • Bacteria and archaea are prokaryotes. Their cells lack a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles, but they do have ribosomes.
  • Animals, plants, fungi and protists are eukaryotes. Eukaryotic cells typically have a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles.
  • The cell membrane contains a phospholipid bilayer and proteins. It selectively regulates movement into and out of the cell.
  • In eukaryotic cells, most DNA is in the nucleus. Mitochondria and chloroplasts also contain their own DNA.
  • Mitochondria produce ATP during cellular respiration. ATP transfers energy for cellular work.
  • Ribosomes make proteins in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.

Notes match the corrected lyrics. Biology references: OpenStax, Biology 2e, cell theory and prokaryotic cells.
