Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the app:

• Account information: your email address, a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text), and an optional display name.
• Date of birth: collected at sign-up solely to verify you meet our minimum age requirement (13+). We store your date of birth, not a separate copy of any ID.
• Content you provide: the notes you paste or upload, and the study sheets, concepts, and practice questions generated from them.
• Learning & gameplay data: your answers, spaced-repetition schedule, points (“Sparks”) ledger, streaks, daily challenges, and virtual pet state.
• Payment information: if you subscribe, checkout is handled entirely by Stripe. We receive a subscription status and Stripe identifiers; we never see or store your full card number.
• Technical data: an essential cookie that keeps you signed in, and, if you opt in to reminders, a web-push subscription token for your browser.

2. How we use your information

• Provide, maintain, and improve the app and your account.
• Turn your notes into study sheets and practice questions.
• Track your progress, points, streaks, and pet, and schedule reviews.
• Process subscriptions and prevent abuse of the points economy.
• Send the daily reminder you opted into (never more than one a day).
• Keep the service secure and comply with our legal obligations.

3. AI processing of your notes

To create study materials, the notes you submit are sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, to extract concepts, generate and quality-check questions, and build a study sheet. Your notes are processed to provide this feature and are not used by us to build advertising profiles. Please avoid pasting sensitive personal information you would not want processed this way.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate Skillwisy, under agreements that limit their use of it:

• Supabase: database, authentication, and hosting.
• Anthropic: AI processing of your notes (see Section 3).
• Stripe: payment processing for subscriptions.
• Web push services: delivering the reminder notifications you opt into.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

5. Cookies

We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Data retention and your choices

You are in control of your data at any time from Settings:

• Erase all my data: permanently deletes your notebooks, questions, progress, pets, and Sparks while keeping your login.
• Delete my account: permanently deletes your account and all associated data. This cannot be undone.

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, associated data is removed from our live systems. Limited records required for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes (for example, payment records held by Stripe) may be retained as required by law.

7. Children's privacy

Skillwisy is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us at support@contact.skillwisy.com and we will delete it.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and row-level database access controls. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly to any issues.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be communicated within the app where appropriate.
